instead of copy, try duplicate.
That is, select the first part and press Control+D.
This creates a new track with the selected audio in it.
Deselect that track, press once right arrow, this sets the cursor to
the end of the previous selection.
You can now select the pre-chorus or whatever by e.g. playing and
setting the right edge of the audio. Duplicate that etc.
In the end, you have to mute the first track.
Alternatively, you can use split cut.
That is, you leave the audio in the first track panned in the center.
Create a new track.
Select the audio in the first track that should go left or right and cut it with
Control+Alt+X
This creates a gap in the first track so that all stays aligned.
Paste the audio in the new track and pan it to your liking.
Create as many tracks as you have pan positions in mind.
