Hi Manoj
You are over-thinking the process. As Ted said, pressing spacebar will stop.
That is, it will stop both the karaoke track and the track onto which you are
recording. Do it like this:
1. Go to the point in the karaoke track a little before you want to start
singing.
2. Press shift-r. That will start recording on a new track while playing the
karaoke track.
3. At the relevant time, start singing.
4. When you have finished singing, press spacebar to stop recording.
You can then adjust levels and whatever else you want to do to the recording of
your voice.
Andrew

Hi Ted,
For some reason, when I press space, my recording also stops and when I press
space again that is when the karaoke track begins playing.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I followed all the steps that you suggested. So
there is a bit of music at the beginning and then I have to start singing. So
I press Shift plus R to start a new recording, but when I press space to play
the karaoke track, the recording stops.
Could you tell me what am I doing wrong?

Open the karaoke track in audacity. Make sure you have earphones on
and set your preferred microphone. Go to the transport menu by
pressing Alt+N, go into the transport submenu and make sure overdub
is on. The final step is to record a new track by pressing shift+R
and save the file. Hope it helps!

Hi,
How can we record vocals over a karaoke track in audacity?
