Hi Gary

The solution depends on which screen reader you are using.  I am told, but
have not tested it, that if you instruct JAWS to use a specific sound card,
it will stay there.  Do not select default, specifically select your
internal sound card.

With NVDA it is necessary to change it back from the turntable to - say -
your internal card blindly.  Press NVDA-control-s to open the synthesizer
dialog.  Tab once to synthesizer.  Then press up or down arrow (your guess
is as good as mine), press Enter and hope for the best.  Prior exploration
of options may help your guess.  I should raise a ticket about this.

Having been caught a couple of times when connecting an HDMI cable when
doing presentations I wrote an AutoHotKey script which cycles through all
available sound cards.  I press spacebar when it reaches the one I want.
Let me know if interested.

Andrew

Hi David,

I have an Audio Technica turntable.  How would I change where the speech is
routed in nvda?  Thanks for any help.

Yep, it's normal. Troublesome sometimes, but normal.

You'll probably need to send your screen reader output to a different device
unless there is a physical headphone jack on your device. The speech might
be routed through the device.

What USB turntable do you have?

Best,

David

Hi All,

I m using the latest win10 nvda and audacity.  When I plug in my usb
turntable I lose speech.  Is this normal?  Thanks for any help.
