Hi, Bob, the problem is that I don't know what symbol is used in the
print, so I can't know the appropriate accent mark to use. I don't know
if I should use a circumflex mark on the A, a grave, an acute accent, or
an umlaut. (I'm pretty sure the umlaut isn't what I want.) Regards, Kim

What software/hardware are you using?
If in some way you are using jaws (i.e. jaws with word) then you can
press
insert+4 (that's four on the numbers row) and you will get a list of
characters to choose from.
Press enter on the character that meets your needs.
The three a characters you get are: á Á and æ.
Hope this helps.
p.s. even if you're using a program like kurzweil or openbook to proof
with,
there are ways to get these characters into those programs. Just let us
know.

Hi, I'm proofreading a science fiction book. I'm reading the second
story in the anthology. Part of the story takes place in Brazil. There's
a discussion of Sao Paulo. The advice I need is how to put in the
correct accent mark for the A in Sao Paulo (Paulo doesn't use an accent
mark. I know how to write it in Braille, but I don't know which ASCII
character to use for the A in Sao. Please write me back as I wish this
