We should always keep the British punctuation and spelling as it appears in
the book. This is something we've been told multiple times since the
beginning of Bookshare.
It's not specifically addressed in the manual, and maybe it should be. But I
think the following from the manual is important to remember:
2. The process for proofreading for Bookshare is different than traditional
proofreading done in literature classes. For the most part, books need to
closely
resemble the original printed book and the changes we make are to correct
the scanning errors and to ensure accessibility by changing of some of the
formatting,
such as specific font sizes (See Glossary) and bolding for chapter headings.

Larry, you went to extra trouble. I just left the British spellings the way
they were, and the punctuation the way it was too. That's the way they
wrote it.
Maybe I should have changed the quotation marks but I didn't. I figured it
was a British book, and therefore it was written in the British manner. Is
there anything about this in the manual? Does anybody know?
Actually, this is an excellent question with the advent of the effects of
the Marrakesh Treaty. How does one handle British books. I've always left
them alone. I figure that The English can't teach their American cousins
how to speak, and I just don't argue with The Queen's English.
