I agree with Cindy. I don't buy books except when I come home to Portland. They have this great bookstore that's two blocks long. I can get a used paperback for as little as two fifty! I just bought four books from there.

It doesn't sound cheap at all. I'm surprised, and am sure that members are grateful, that so many of you do buy books. I'm the cheap one--I only validate books or read books that I can get from my libraries--or, rarely, if the cost is low enough, from used-book stores. I think maybe it's a generational thing--and/or I haven't brought up my adult daughters properly. Though when they were young we always went to the library, they buy current books, e.g. the Harry Potter and others, rather than wait for them at the library. I do confess, though, that for my granddaughter I'd rather spend the money and get her a new book than get he same one used. Cindy Ro I guess thissounds cheap, but if I can't find it on Paperback Swap or at my local library, I probably won't be scanning it. I have to be dedicated to the topic of a book with every fiber of my being before I'll buy it brand-new.
