Jill, Kurzweil 1000 is set to remove end of line hypins by default unless you specifically deactivate this feature. That's why you often don't seen end of line hyphins. You will sometimes notice, however, words split at the end of the page where a part of the word appears at the end of one page and the rest appears at the beginning of the first page immediately after the header. This is something that Kurzweil 1000is not yet handled to take care of and has to be corrected manually.
