As a validator, I've seen this happen with books I've released back to Step one because they had problems I couldn't tackle. I'd then see them appear amazingly fast as part of the collection, download them to read and find all the scanning errors untouched, and the book rated excellent. Obviously the validator that took them did the minimum possible - title, copyright, etc. - and didn't read through the book at all. It's very frustrating, especially as I do everything I can to make the books I validate virtually error free, as I know many other validators and scanners also do.

Perhaps the kind of thing that I have experienced doesn't happen often and I just had the experience twice out of co-incidence. I don't know. It just got under my skin to know with a certainty that no work was done on my books, that errors were left in them (junk characters to remove in both cases) and the book was uploaded to the administration queue for addition to the bookshare collection, and then I got a note to fix the books (which I did) and then someone else who had changed ABSOLUTELY nothing from my submission would get credit for it. Sorry about the seriously run-onsentence. And sorry about the mini-rant.
