It depends on how the print book is formatted. If there is a blank line before the diary entries then the asterisks should be added. If there is some kind of other symbol then depending on what that symbol is it should either be added or if it can't then it should be discussed here to see if we can come up with a substitute. If there is no blank line or any symbol separating the diary entries from the rest of the text then let it stand. To change it might mess up the author's intended effect.

Hey Guys;
The book I am proofing (the one that also has multiple scene jumps in chapters) also have some journal/diary entries within the chapter/text. My question is this, should I add the asterisks to indicate the journal/diary entry (you know where the person starts talking in her journal/diary) with an asterisks and say [journal entry] or not? And if I add it, how should it be done?
Thanks guys,
Netta
