Hello List!
I just finished sending a volunteer a email and said something in the email
that got me to thinking so I decided to share my gratitude with you all.
Before I begin please forgive me if this email gets too long.
As a child I have always loved to read and enjoyed a good book of any kind
so when I lost my sight I felt as though my "world" ended as I knew it. I
was always able to escape to a world other than my own and relax whenever I
had a good book in my hand. When I was told about bookshare by a friend, I
thought that "all was finally right in the world of being blind", at least
from my prospective. With that being said I am ever grateful of all that you
guys do from scanning, to proofing, and to adding descriptions. Recently in
a class that I am taking I had to evaluate 150 children's books in 7
different categories and the added descriptions gave me a new respect when
doing my evaluations since I had to also read some of my evaluated books to
a class at a child care center (although I memorized the books so that I
could speak fluidly.) Again, I just wanted you guys to know that I am very
grateful and thankful for what you do, making reading assessable for us. I
started volunteering so that I can give back to a organization that has
touched my life so and can only hope that my work is as excellent as some of
you veterans.
I pray that many blessing follow each of you because it is good OLE folks
like yall that make life so easier for some of us.
