No crate, he is a huge doggy, and only about 18 months old so I expected
a little mischief, not my watch, however.  That was one thing I most
definitely was angered about.  

She brought some of his toys, but he plays with them only when my
Labrador tries to play with them first.  

He seems a bit more calm today, found a large rawhide bone someplace,
has been diligently chewing on it and talking to it for a couple of
hours.

I would insist your sister provide a dog crate the next time the dog 
visits.  They are inexpensive and easily purchased from lots of places.
I 
have lived with a chewer and have several missmatched slippers and
pillows 
with holes in them as a result.  The humans in the dog/human house won
out 
here.  Also often a multitude of toys (such as six or so) in a room can 
distract from chewing.  How old a dog?
