Hopefully what I am about to say will help you. When this happens to me, what I
do is this.
I will go to the document and try to save it. The reason why is that, I will
get a dialogue box saying that the document is in protected mode and I would
have to take it out of protected mode in order to save it. And something like
enter to take tit out of protected mode. Do that and then you should be able to
continue as normal. Additionally, you can go to the word option menu and take
off protected mode that way, that is assuming that you are using word 2007 or
2010.
