Hi, Natasha. Actually, this laptop came with a 90-day free trial of Norton Internet Security, so yes, it has the firewall. Hmm. Well, anyway, thanks for the tip, and I'll have to try that. I have a firewall on the PC, but not Norton, and I never had that problem. I'd be interested in any tips anyone might have, too, if there's a work-around for this while keeping the firewall enabled. Thanks, and take care. I have that problem when i have Norton personal firewall enabled. i always have to disable it to download books for validation and also when i need to upload or renew. If you're not running a Norton Personal Firewall then it might be some other security setting specific to the laptop. That's what immediately comes to mind anyway. That reminds me, while i'm discussing this little issue with Norton... anybody know if there's a way to keep the personal firewall enabled and still be able to renew/upload books and download books for validation?? I'm relatively new to using Norton's Firewall so i'd appreciate any tips. Natasha & Fossey "Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up." - A. A.
