Hmm, 2 votes for the Opticbook.
I saw a Xerox document scanner on Amazon for around $60, but have no idea if it's any good. I had no idea my good old Epson wouldn't work with my new machine, either. I'm quite annoyed.

All I can tell you is that my Optik Book 3600 runs under Windows 7 64-bit. It never occured to me that it wouldn't. I was running it on my old Windows Vista machine before. But when I got my new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit, I installed the driver and it worked. But that scanner may be too expensive for you.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Scanner for 64-bit machine

Sorry, I know scanners were discussed recently, but I didn't pay attention,
and I can't find a list archive. If there is one, please point me to it.
I recently bought a new PC, 64-bit, Windows 7. Dumb, huh? I have a
perfectly good Epson 1650 scanner, but Epson doesn't have a 64-bit driver.
They want to make me buy a new scanner. There is 3rd-party software that
will drive my scanner in Windows7, but, when I start Kurzweil and hit
"scan", it starts the 3rd party software, and nothing happens. I think
K1000 and Vuescan don't talk to each other.
If anyone knows how to make my current scanner work with my new machine,
please share.
If anyone knows a decent scanner that works with Windows7, please share. I
don't need anything fancy.
Thanks.
Tracy
