Pratik, you mention using margins that match the size of a paperback, and I
believe you are using openbook. I've tried to use this feature in the
settings, but when I adjust the margins, I get a blank scan. Let's say for
example that I want to have the scanner only move down so far on the scanner
bed. Would I need to adjust the bottom margin, or would this depend on the
direction the book is facing? Can you advise us Openbook users who might
enjoy shaving some time off their scans?

Thanks,
Scott

  Hello all,

Whether you'll use the lid or not to put pressure on the book wil depend
on the type and size of that particular book. I've found that 9 times out
of ten, the pressure with the lid is quite sufficient for not only the edges
but for the binding as well. For normal-sized paperbacks, I often use my
hands since I tend to set my scanner's margins for the length of the
paperback and I tend to finish a particular scan in a very short time.
Books that are slightly larger than paperbacks are the best candidates for
using the lid as a pressure device. With the lid, you can apply firm,
consistent pressure whereas that may not happen consistently without the
lid, especially when you're dealing with large books.

  HTH.
