Pat I'm convinced that this "lack of responsiveness" issue relates as much as to finances as much as anything else. Other than sizable new grants or sugar daddies, it is unrealistic to expect this to change. The only possible solution is delegating some of these tasks to volunteers; and when you ask volunteers to assume this kind of thing, you subject your corporate image to the vagueries inherent when using volunteers. I think that BookShare is in a catch-22 with this kind of thing. And it doesn't help that the staff is at least one person short and that we're in vacation season to boot.
