In the last few months I have formatted and preproofed scans in Pages as
rtf files on my iPad. None of the proofers have complained. The books were
scanned into rtf files on a pc, then moved to the ipad by way of dropbox.
No conversion to or from docx was done.
My scanning software puts in section breaks instead of page breaks. As far
as I know, converting those section breaks to page breaks can only be done
in MS Word on the pc. Otherwise, everything comes out fine in Pages on the
iPad.

versions. Pages will on a tablet I think, but not on a smartphone.
I use Google Docs on an Android device but it makes bloated rtf files so I
save the file as a docx then send it to my pc and convert it using
Microsoft Word on my PC.
