Hi Valerie,
I've been doing this for over a year and a half, using Google Docs to edit on
my Android devices. No other program that edited RTF files on an Android device
correctly created a file that converted to an rtf using a PC or Mac without
errors, except for AnderOffice which is hard to use on a small screen. I tried
at least 30 apps on Android (and iOS devices), probably more like 50.
To keep hard page breaks, superscripts, subscripts, formatting and diacritical
marks, without errors, I've found it's best to:
1. download the rtf to a pc or mac and convert it to a docx;
2. upload that file to the mobile device;
3. Open it in Google Docs and convert it there to the Google docs format;
4. proofread the book, always saving it as a Google doc;
5. after you are done proofreading, "share" your finished Google docs as a docx
file, which will export it as a docx.
The only thing that sometimes glitches on conversion is that a typed ellipsis
might get converted into a graphical ellipsis, so I always check for that after
I convert back to an rtf.
Pages works on an iPad supposedly, but only on the most recent iOS for the iPad
from what I've heard. I think Michael S. who scans a lot of science fiction has
it working.

Judy;
Is it safe/reliable to work in docx on a mobile device (iPad for me)
and convert it to rtf on my Mac or PC? I thought the conversion from
docx to rtf sometimes created losses of formatting, but would be
thrilled to hear that no longer happens. Often I would prefer proofing
on my iPad Pro.
Thank you for your time and assistance!
Valerie

Hi Julie,
I don't think Office 365 saves rtf files on the tablet or smart phone
so I save the file as a docx then send it to my pc and convert it using
I use Google Docs on an Android device but it makes bloated rtf files
Microsoft Word on my PC.
