Are you sure the missing numbers aren't in the book? It's not unusual for numbers to be ignored sometimes even when they are actually there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rosie" <nothingbutlime@xxxxxxxxx>

Thanks for the tips, guys!
Okay, in the same book, page numbers are included at the bottom but only on certain pages. Do I keep those as well? For instance, I see a 65 at the bottom of one page and then a 66 but no 67 or 68? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>

Like Julie, I usually keep the blank pages, since we
try to keep as close to the original book as possible.
a return between two page breaks is all that is
necessary.

But if the numbering begins with the first page of
the first chapter I wouldn't think you'd really have
to.

When the introductory pages are included in the
numbering but not numbered, e.g., page one of chapter
one begins with p. 6, I usually, but not always, go
backwards and put in the numbers on the pages so
readers won't think anything is missing. Or I'll put
in the long synopsis that the main text begins on p.
whatever.

Hi, Rosie. I always keep the blank pages. It's just
easier to do it that
way. It's important to keep the blank pages if
they're part of the numbering
sequence, but it's just easier for me to be
consistent. <smile> Take care.

volunteer manual

I'm trying to edit Thistle and Twig, by Mary Sauns,
and I'm a little
confused about the directions in the volunteer
manual. I will paste what
confuses me below.

Blank pages are often found in the following places
in books:
list of 8 items
. After the Table of Contents
. After the Dedication
. After the Acknowledgments
...
Note that books often begin numbering pages with the
first page of the main
content, but page numbering can also begin with the
first page of a book.
When
numbering begins with the first page of the book,
then blank pages should be
included in the front of the book to preserve page
numbering.

This book contains pages after the table of contents
and in the back of the
book before information that is not part of the core
content: about the
author, book jacket, and acknowledgements. However,
no page numbers are
listed outside of the core content. Do I keep the
blank pages or squash
them? I really want to do the job right the first
time.
