As far as I can determine from books I have looked at in the collection spaces are dropped when there is more than one, so don't bother indenting paragraphs. You should just make sure that there is 1 or 2 blank lines separating paragraphs. If you have an extreme aversion to the paragraphs as they are it might be efficient to use Words paragraph formatting option found in the Format menu. You can specify indent by, which should indent the first line of each paragraph. I'd give more specific directions but I have an old version of Word and JAWS speaks quite badly in there, so what i told you might not resemble what you would notice. Of course doing this is not necessary and won't be noticed by most people, but it isn't forbidden either. Forbidding fixing of paragraph formatting would be like forbidding the books to be put in to braille at all because that automatically changes paragraph appearence and page lengths.

You can quickly determine what is a paragraph by reading each with control-DownArrow. If you then want to fix formatting for that paragraph select it with Shift-Control-DownArrow.

If Word didn't let you indent some lines it was probably because Word wasn't aware the line was supposed to start a new paragraph. That is why hitting enter there helps, because hitting enter tells Word it's a new paragraph.
