Hi, David I think you may have over reacted to Lillian's message. It didn't appear to me that her comment was rude. She just went by Christina's subject of the message. I doubt that she listen to the report which appears to have promise for some thing that could be of great value to the blind..

Lillian,
During my train ride home I read your message which you wrote to Christina. As the moderator of this list, as well as a technology enthusiast, I must admit that I was both angered and shocked at your rudeness and insensitivity. I have the following comments, which I would strongly urge you to seriously consider.

1. First, the purpose of this list is for all of us to ask questions, provide answers and support as well as to disseminate information about technology for the blind, computer technology in particular. Christina has done this with the link she shared, as well as all of the other links she has provided in previous messages to this list.
2. While I try to accommodate the needs of all of the members on this list, the list does not exist to solely cater to your needs and, frankly, to your budget. The estimated cost of this item comes out to around $560.00 in U.S. dollars. While you may not be able to afford such an item, has it occurred to you that others on this list may be able to do so? I myself have posted product announcements concerning items which are more than I can afford to pay, such as Humanware selling a Braille display for around two thousand dollars. Some of the products discussed on this list may be items which are beyond your financial means to acquire. Some of them are unaffordable to me as well but I am not so self-centered as to limit discussions about products or services which only I can afford. Doing so would be unfair to others who may find the information to be of interest or relevance.
3. If you have concerns about the appropriateness of a message posted to this list, you are to contact me privately and express those concerns to me off of the list. As the moderator of this group, I am the one who decides whether a message is useless. Since I am the moderator of this list, I have decided that Christina's message was quite useful and was extremely appropriate. Christina's choice to post the link, while it may not have seemed relevant to you, was in fact not a waste of her valuable time, as you incorrectly stated. As moderator of this list, I am also forced to conclude that your message to her was rude, insensitive and extremely inappropriate. Christina, along with anyone else who is subscribed to this list, is free to continue to submit links about new or developing products, regardless of whether you can afford them or whether you personally find them of value. You are free to delete or skip any messages which you may not be interested in reading.
In closing, I would like to conclude by saying that I never, ever want to see another message from you insulting or degrading any user of this group. If you send another such message to the group you will be unsubscribed and banned from this list.

Hi, Christina;
Just curious but why would you send us a link to something that none of us can afford even if it ever becomes available? It just seems like a waste of your valuable time to me if the info's interesting but useless. Take care.
Lillian
