Thank you, Barbara. I incline to believe this matter of weight is a
concept he talked about but didn't write about, and your recollection is
very helpful. (I'd welcome word from others as well.) If you don't
know of a place where he wrote about it, that goes a long way toward
proving the negative.
Perhaps I should clarify what I meant about asserting more or less
weight, because what I was taught agrees with what you say: One holds
or has weight rather than being able to create or obtain it in the
moment or by effort or learning. The teacher's point may be especially
relevant to those of us in the United States, since we have such a
tendency to go charging into situations to "fix" them, which is
diametrically opposite to the phenomenological presence of a good
facilitator.
Your point about being able to feel someone's weight in a hug reminds me
of being present when Archbishop Desmond Tutu spoke in a large
cathedral. He is physically a very small man, and yet he filled the
space with his presence and his smile in a way that was palpable.
Happy New Year to all.

anything
Hi Deborah,
I think I picked this up verbally from Bert. I don't recall seeing
in writing about it. He mostly talked about 'weight in terms ofmothers and
those who don't have children. I don't recall reading anything aboutthe
weight of the facilitator. It's a strange idea to me to think aboutthe
idea of asserting more or less weight because I think it is somethingyou
have in you. The weight is, as you say, gained through lifeexperience,
being a parent, being a facilitator, suffering, age etc. and can't becan
created or moulded in the way you were taught, at least as far as I
see. I can often feel it when I hug someone.made
Happy New Year everyone!

Hello Everyone: I'm looking for specific statements Bert Hellinger
When Iabout the "weight" of the facilitator as a factor in constellations.
asserttrained, I was taught that it's phenomenologically important not to
thatmore or less weight as facilitator than one actually possesses - and
being aweight is affected by factors such as age & life experience or by
comesparent, as well as by training and experience as a facilitator.
I find this an important and useful concept, but I wonder where it
orfrom. Can anyone guide me to specific statements - either in English
German - from Hellinger himself? Please send directly to me at
choices@... or Deborah@... - and if I get
useful replies I'll compile them and send to the group for everyone.
Thanks so much,
