Hello Karen,
My views about systems and therapies is available in my second book " A
Question of Balance: A Systemic Approach for Understanding and Resolving
Trauma, available on www. amazon.com and through my web site. As stated, I am
cautious about endorsing the combining of other therapies with SCW because
I feel that the underlying philosophies are not always compatible. And
yes, I am well aware that psychodrama and other methods were precursors of
what came to be known as systemic constellation work. The next step in
this exchange might be that you read my book and I will read your manuscript
in hopes that we may better understand each other's perspective and continue
this dialogue back channel and then , if you are willing, share our
conclusions with the forum membership.
Warm Regards,
Anngwyn

From my perspective, the work of J.L. Moreno, the developer of psychodrama,
can complement Systemic Constellation Work in a number of ways.
A key point is what people know about psychodrama, how they have been
trained in the method and their experience with and understanding of
Moreno's vast number of principles and theory, including the accompanying
field of sociometry, which explores the relationships between people in
groups, or systems. He created a number of what he called "sociometric
tests," to explore relationships of people in groups. Moreno also coined a
word, "tele," to refer to the invisible energy that attracted, repelled or
remained neutral between people in groups.
Moreno was actually quite the innovator in the early 20th century in
bringing the concept of systems to the field of psychology and psychiatry.
He was also the one who spoke in favor of working with groups at a time
when
the typical analyst worked in a 1-1 setting.
Psychodrama is more than role playing - although in the eyes and thoughts
of
many people that is what they believe it is - and encompasses a very rich
philosophy and theory.
There are a few of us in the psychodrama field who believe that had Moreno
lived another 50 years he would have developed something similar to what
Bert Hellinger has created.
I do not know if you are alone in your thoughts or not on this topic, but I
am interested in your perspective and considerations and welcome the
opportunity to correspond more about why you perceive psychodrama as not
systemic and should not be combined.
Looking forward.

Subject: Re: [ConstellationTalk] Constellation & psychodrama
Hello Everyone,
I have serious considerations about " combining " psycho drama with
systemic constellation work....mainly because SCW is systemic and
psychodrama
is not .This is a very important and basic philosophical difference!
Perhaps
I am alone in my concerns that mixing and matching SCW with other symptom
oriented modalities will seriously weaken both the understanding of and
the power of our work.
All for now...
