I am new to this group and am not a facilitator, but certainly aspire to be one day. In the mean time, I am absorbing all the info I can about this profound work. I only write now as my father is a Viet Vet and I thought my personal constellation story may be of interest. A year ago I first came across Constellation work and volunteered at a talk to be the example, not having a clue what I was letting myself in for. I wanted to resolve issues I had with my son, but after talking to me, the facilitator quite rightly suggested this was not THE core issue and inquired as to the history of my childhood family. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the father rep told of his guilt at living when his 'army family' had died (the facilitator explained that she'd found soldiers who had been to war always had a strong family bond with their comrades and they needed to be represented as such). The father explained that he never really came wholly back but that a part of him had remained behind with his mates. In turn, his comrades reps expressed their anger that he had survived and that their lives had been wasted. It was very emotional for the reps (who were big burly men who had no idea what they were agreeing to do either!) The relationship between my parents and then between my father and me was then able to be righted. The conclusion though, which is why I am writing, is that since this time, my relationship has changed profoundly with my father. After being raised by my step-father and having no real connection with my real dad, this has now completely changed. In fact, my Dad is moving to live in the same street as me next week! I have since attended other talks and Constellations and they never cease to amaze me. Hats off to all of you working with this profound energy - I look forward to joining your ranks.
