I'm glad to see the transplant discussion. I've worked in the transplant world
for two years. One year specifically in an Organ Procurement Organization and
last year with UNOS...United Network for Organ Sharing. All this while I was
training with Heinz Stark in WI. As a matter of fact, I found the first job
due to the training...long story.
Anyway...working with the donor families first hand in OH and then being in
the main governing organization offering organs to transplant centers, I got a
strong feeling that through constellation work the rejection process could
possibly be minimized, maybe even eradicated through this work. If a recipient
had an interrupted reaching out movement early in life and couldn't fully take
in life, it seems to me that if that entanglement could be resolved and he
could fully take in the gift his parents gave him, that with this second chance
at life, he could fully accept the gift and live well. I have also thought
that it could be a fine way for the recipient to honor the donor and the donor
family that gave their permission to donate in the first place. My boss at
UNOS...when I ran this down to him told me that if something like this could
really work that we would put the donation organizations out of
business...well, I don't think so, but it would be nice to try.
I really appreciate the piece on "cheating" death. That's another angle to
look at. I am now in the process of trying to figure out how to take this work
to the support groups in my state. I would love to hear more from anyone who
has had experience with he transplant world. I was lucky enough to meet Dr.
Lynch in Portland. I will go out on line and get the newest Knowing Field.
Thanks again to everyone on this list. It is an excellent tool for me to
broaden my knowledge with the help of the seasoned facilitators. I look
forward to meeting more and more of you over time.
Namaste,

Dear Diane
I have never set up a constellation for transplants before, but on reading your
posting my thought was having representatives for the new and the old kidneys
and the person themselves and see where that might lead.
In terms of orders my thought is that the old kidney was the first and in the
transplant has been discarded. The transplanted kidney is the second.
Another thought is that the transplanted kidney is in the second body of its
life, maybe the donor person could be represented as well, and see what effect
that has.
Again, I have no experience in this, these are my thoughts.

A man is coming to my workshop who has a kidney transplant. A description of
his condition follows.
He has a condition called genetic nephritis. It is kidney failure passed
through the female (mother) which mainly affects males (sons). The females are
also affected in later life. It's in the chromosomes. He had a transplant
almost 3 years ago (donated by his only brother that does not have the disease)
He now has contracted the BK virus which sometimes attacks the new kidney of
transplant patients. Most of us have the virus lying dormant in our kidneys.
It is activated by a compromised immune system.
Now it is a constant battle to keep the new kidney. Drugs changing sometimes
daily. He also has heart problems and loss of hearing from the disease. Some
of the medicines are causing new problems of their own, and of course there are
emotional and financial effects.
Has anyone done a constellation with any kind of transplant before? I know Bert
doesn't recommend transplants and I will look through the books to find some
references, if there are any. I may decide to include a representative for
death, and I emphasized that I make no promises about the outcome of the
constellation.
