MessageHi Chris,
thank you for your message.
The phenomenology of the field can only be perceived in the context of my own
phenomenology! The conceptual filters you are talking about are our theories
etc which might get in the way. For that reason it is so important that we are
able to "empty" ourselfs (as far as possible)
so that we can become aware of our true phenomenolgy and work with that in the
"interplay" with the phenomenology of the field.
How is the mental health job going?

Subject: [ConstellationTalk] phenomenology
Hi all,
I just copied and pasted all the contributions on inflation going
back to Bertold Ulsamer's posting about reconciliation which stimulated me to
raise the subject. It came to 19 pages on a word document. Lots of really
nourishing food for thought! Thank you everyone. Because I think it is a very
important topic I will continue to plug away at it.
A side issue that arose for me during the discussion was that of
phenomenology. Bert Hellinger says his work is phenomenological. It struck me
that he never defines it. He just assumes people know what he means by such
expressions as "a phenomenological insight" or "Acknowledging what is".
I do know that phenomenology has its roots in the philosophical works of
Hegel, Husserl & Heidegger. Having read a little, I discovered that
"Acknowledging what is" isn't so easy, because we all have conceptual filters.
So even the orders of love which were discovered through a phenomenological
approach are such filters that then remove us from directly experiencing. In
fact as soon as we name something we move from perception to conception.
So even talking about phenomenology is paradoxical in itself. Nonetheless, I
thing it would be very helpful if we could get clearer about this
"phenomenology thing" that is supposed to be the basis of our constellation
practice.
Hasta la vista

There's a fine line between sharing suggestions of "what works for me" and
setting out principles of "what you should do." It's human nature to conflate
"how we do things" with "the way things should be done." One is a personal
preference, the other a universal dictum. If one facilitator finds that
staying to the left of the client is beneficial, it is helpful to share that
insight with others who might also benefit. However, this should not be
confused with a rule that says that the client has to be on the right or the
field will suffer interference.
Speaking for all the other blurry-eyed, color-blind dyslexics among us, I
can't even tell my left from my right. I'm the blind man who takes your hand
and says, "Don't you see?" I appreciate Sheila's insight even if I cannot
personally be concerned with it. I trust that we all understand that these
suggestions are intended as aids not constraints.

I think that the healing process is co-created by both the facilitator
and the client. On the road to healing, both facilitating and hindering are
possible in both persons. Choices are made, consciously and unconsciously, some
that hinder and some that facilitate.
Due to my right eye being extremely weak and not wanting too strain my
neck by looking right, I sit on the right side of my client, honoring the
client as the focus person and the leader of his process. In Germany at the
most recent Congress in May, I saw some facilitators not even having the client
come up to their left or right side but working with them from where they both
randomly sat.
