Dear Colleagues,
I have been enjoying your posts for some years now but this is the first time I
am writing
A dear friend of mine is in hospital in Ireland with Parkinsons and a suspicion
of Motor Neuron disease. He has trouble swallowing and has had pneumonia twice
in the last months due to aspiration. Now the hospital is not giving him any
food and he is quite weak, although the pneumonia seems to be resolved.
I know there are codes for the brain. I wonder if any of you have experience
with restoring the swallowing reflex?
This is a dedicated priest, a very good man who has spent his life selflessly,
helping others, the only white man to march in the frontline at demonstrations
against apartheid in S Africa, the closest person to a saint I have ever met.
Sending you fond regards and thanking you for your consideration of this
