I too have some limited experience of helping homeopaths. my approach so far
has been in a supervisory capacity and generally looking at the family
system involved and highlighting any missing people, other anomalies. In one
situation where the father of a child who's mother brought him to the
homeopath had been killed in a manslaughter case, the homeopath put a lit
candle in the room for the father and another for the man who killed him,
and kept a constant place in his heart for these two when working with the
mother and child. the homeopath reported that this seemed to allow the
mother and child to relax and open up, and certainly he found it very
helpful in working with them. This is an interesting supervisory idea when
more is not possible. what happens if the therapist (of whatever discipline)
holds a special consciousness for perpetrators and/or missing people. how
does that affect the session? I have done this on quite a few occasions with
supervisees who work with couples, and the children of the couple are the
real sufferers, often excluded in the couples therapy context. I suggest
that the therapist have the children sit next to them, and even tell the
couple that they do that and see what the effect is. perhaps putting out
chairs for the children. In the supervisory context I will ask the
supervisee to imagine that the child or children sit with them, and ask how
that is. This is often very powerful for the supervisee.
The other obvious area of work with homeopaths, which I haven't had
sufficient opportunity to work with but have talked with a homeopath about
it, is presentation of a case history and then setting up the client and
various implied remedies.
