Yes I agree with all you write. We have enough of us out there to help. I have just migrated from the old CWPA9.3 that I used to use at College as a teacher five years ago, but since then I have been completely out of this scene. Much of what I read about the new Sonar 6 and 7 in this list is way, way beyond my comprehension and, I must say, my needs. Perhaps we need a beginner's list, or a mentoring group, or as you suggest a much more interactive tutorial with music examples or whatever.

Just my thoughts.

Hello all together,
Patrick Schuppe here from Bielefeld in Germany.

this mail is long to read but I think its word it so please keep on reading.

It took me a time to realy come out and write this email because I am not
well in standing up and saying that I need help or have a problem that I
cant solve myself. But this time I think I am not alone and that my writing
of this mail may help others, too.

1,5 years ago I bought Sonar 5.0 along with CT. From then on I tried to make
my first moves. that realy isnt easy because I never have had much to do
with producing music.
I was working as a DJ for 12 years privatly in the dance area. I always
dreamed of making my own music. So when I discovered that it is possible to make my own music with Sonar and CT I sold all of my DJ equitment plus my
venyls to buy myself a music pc with Sonar and a few syntesizers.
Over 1,5 years I try to figure it out by my self now. I am not saying I
didnt make any progress but what I am asking is if there are more people in
my situation.
So here are exactly my problems:
1: I have had problems with a not working soundcard witch I now have changed
to the M-audio Delta 1010 LT.
2: I have had 3 hardware syntesizers (the Roland JP8080 and the Virus B plus an other one. I sold them all 3 because I wasnt able to connect them right to the pc to get audio and midi working and I wasnt able to use them as I
wanted.

this are my solved problems so to say.

I now have an Access Virus TI, Sf2 syntesizers, a Radium 61 plus a lot of
samples and midis to work with.
I am sharing my difficolties in the beginning here because I think that
there for new blind people to real music producing there should be more
help.
I am not running against anyone! What I am saying is that there are more
people who mixed music as a DJ like me wanting to make their own.
So I thought buying this and just start will do it but it will not. there is much more to it. What I wish as an out coming of this email is a discusion about this matter and a solution for all blind people who just start with
music.

One big big difficalty I still have is that I am realy missing my mixer very very much! most of the mixing stuff is now in my pc accessible from knops in a program. I would feel much better if I could access this from a mixer or
so.

Before I wrote this mail I have made myself a lot of thoughts what would
help real beginners realy quick to get to it fast so that they dont louse
fight as I was close to.
Here are my suggestions:
0: I call this 0 because I think it should be with in the Sonar and CT
pakage:
A audio welcome cd or mp3 file containing of the following:
- How to install stuff,
- how to get help
- how to solve problems
- the information where audios how to use sonar and CT and how to produce
music can be found (the outcoming of this projekt)

1. audio material to learn:
what I mean by that is that for nearly everything there is with music there could be an mp3 file explaining something or do something or hear someone
doing something where people easy can follow along. I think that we all
today learn much better if we can listen to someone doing something and do
it at the same time (following along)
examples:
- explaining midi and audio
- assigning midi aktions to kayboard weals and knops
- working with audio and midi
- how does sonar and ct works
- how to prooduce my first very own unikwe song!!! this one is realy
importent and should be done in detail!
- how to edit, copy and correct mistakes in detail so that it sounds nice
later on.
- and much more

I see this as a team projekt! I think noone could do this alone but we all as a list could help startups to continue enjoying working with music. Even I call my self a startup because I until today didnt managed it to prooduce my first own song. May be because my expectations are to high for my first song. this could be an ongoing projekt and everyone could contribute to it.

2: I think we should open up a website where people who work with sonar can post their assistens and help tutorials. May be we can even create weekly or daily meetings where people meet to make music or get questions answered in
a chat room.

3: for people who didnt play an instrument where they can learn to play the
piano or kayboard.

I have learned playing piano for 1 year when I was 10 years old but
unfortnetly I lost interest because I wasnt able to make dance music on my pc. So I call myself an non instrument player. But I will go to the music school here in Bielefeld and ask for help in learning to play the kayboard
in the next few weeks.

thats it for my first email.
I hope I get at last the question answered if I am alone in this situation. Please if you are in my situation then please post! I think strongly only if
we say something and ask for help only then we can get help.

Let us get the discusion started and produce something that will help
startups get to it quicker.

I can and will offer my help where ever I can! Once I have learned something
its now problem of creating an audio for it.
My big dream is to produce an audio that shows how to create an dance Song
from beginning to the end.

all the best here from Germany,
Patrick Schuppe
