Heyo all! I got an axiom 49 for my birthday, woo! Hooked it up and it seems to be working more or less fine, this is under Sonar 8 PE. Works fine as a midi controller anyway, the keys produce notes, drumpads do drums in session drummer, the whole deal. Now I'm moving on to trying to control other stuff.
I added the act surface, set the midi input and output ports to axiom usb 1 in and axiom usb out, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that usb 2 in is the other midi port for hooking up external gear. I then went into ... umm .. whatever menu it is, under tools I think, there was an act 1 entry. I picked one of the two axiom 49 presets, 17. I see that the first slider is supposed to control the track 1 volume. I closed that dialogue with either alt-f4 or ctrl-f4, I can't remember which, because there was no close button that I could see. Loaded a project and started trying to change a track's volume. Nothing happened.
So, here are some questions:1. What's the easiest way to get control mappings for the axiom 49? I know for some synths the sliders control things but I have no idea what they actually are. I'm sort of guessing at the act controls, i.e. everything that's not controlling a soft synth. So what's the easiest way to find out what it's doing when controlling a soft synth or when I've loaded an act preset? There are two, 17 and 20, and I have no idea why I'd want one over another or such.
2. Any other axiom documentation out there, specifically relating to accessibility? I know Dancing Dots says it's accessible, sorry DD they had to get it locally to get it in time for my birthday so we didn't get it from you, but that's about all I know about it. I'm a total newbie when it comes to midi controllers, other than the tranzport this is the first one I've owned. I can see why it's accessible, all the programming buttons and such, now I want to actually use it, heh.
So if anybody has any tips, I'd surely appreciate it. If there's nothing out there like a document explaining everything or a tutorial or such, when I get it all figured out, I'll try to write something up for it. So your tips won't just be helping me!
P.S.It's possible the controller's doing something as an act controller, I loaded the project and adjusted a couple sliders and knobs, I didn't hear any changes but when I closed the project it asked me if I wanted to save changes. I said no of course. I don't know if that came from the axiom doing something with the act preset or from me toggling automation read off and on for track 2.
