You probably want to at the very least get a second hard drive for the laptop, if you have room for it. but yes, a PC built specifically for digital audio work is the best way to go.
Talk to Jim over at www.studiocat.com He can sort you out with a great machine! As for audio interface and microphone, it would help to know how much money you are planning on spending.

Hi all,Iâm planning on purchasing sonar 8.5 producer and cake talking over the next few weeks but I donât really know what would be the best computer for me to get. I have a laptop that has 8 gb of ram and an i7 processor, would this be sufficient to run sonar and cake talking? Iâve heard hat laptops are not the ideal solution to run daws but any advice on what computer I should get would be much appreciated as Iâm trying to make a decision. Also what would be the best audio interface/sound card to get? I plan on mainly recording multiple vsts and singing as well. Also what would be the best imcrophone to get as well?Any help with this would be appreciated. Best regards, Josh
