MIDI is a round port where you'd plug a midi wire, and USB is the port that's on the computer. All newer synths come with USB ports, but older ones use MIDI ports. Try having your synth on while you're configuring the midi inputs and outputs in Sonar.

I think it's connected to the midi ports. I've never learned the difference between midi and USB, and how I can tell how things are connected. Please explain!
