Yes. From your description, it sounds like you are connected via midi. Did you try opening the input and output ports with your synth turned on?

Omar,

There are round midi cables attached to my keyboard. The other ends are attached to the round midi ends of a cable array. then the cable array all ends in a flat end, which goes into a flat port on the computer. Are you saying that the USB port is flat, as opposed to round?
