Hi! I don't comment too much being a somewhat new person as well, but I like
reading these posts to learn more and more. For what it's worth, I have an
M-Audio Axiom 61 keyboard hooked to my DAW by USB. It has no internal sounds,
but you use it as a MIDI controller to play the keyboard sounds in Sonar and
its plugins. It also has 8 pads for playing drums, or you can use the keys to
tap in your drums. I'm a guitarist and not so much of a pianist, but this
set-up fits me well. I'm sure others out there have better suggestions. In
terms of being mobile, I'm sure you want to consider the weight of the
keyboard. The Axiom 61 is rather light and loaded with programmable controls.
