Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Does the current version of cake talk work with sonar x1? I saw on the websit that sonar 8.x is listed.

Agreed. I mix and master professionally and use it.
It's not the only way to do things, but it is very thorough, and if you need tutorial, it comes with 400 pages of that. The latest version is very stable and almost entirely bug free.

Well I did get a copy of Sonar with my mic but haven't had much success as of yet with learning it. Are the Cake Talk scrips something additional I need? If so, where abouts do I obtain them?

I'm not working to much with audio on my Mac as I'm trying to see what seems to be the best avenue to take with production with blindness. I am totally blind too just so you all know.

Thanks for the reply

Hi Darragh, and welcome aboard!

Not sure about the equipment or equivalent gear that would serve you better in terms of accessibility; Are you using Cakewalk's Sonar program with the CakeTalking scripts? That would certainly go along way in giving you accessibility to the nuts and bolts of recording and editing as well as a number of software synthesizers and effects. From what I understand, there's limited access to Mac-based software; however, there are some folks around who are doing some things with it, but I don't know the degree of sight that they have. Right now, Sonar, along with the CakeTalking scripts from Dancing Dots, is pretty much it for real accessibility so you can do serious recording and editing - especially if you're a totally blind computer user.

Hope this helps you.

Cheers!

Mike

Hello everyone,

Just introducing myself as well as starting off with some questions.

My name is Darragh and I have been totally blind since 2003 and I use Mac and PC. I currently help with production for J and J FM and host a couple shows that are recorded. I have always been into music but came across many challenges when I lost my sight and actually gave up until this past year and have found many helpful ideas and software and people.

I recently sold my MPC1000 and I am in search for an accessible alternative. I am thinking about the new Native Mashine mikro. Are there any suggestions for me as far as a sampler or drum machine that some one may have experience with? I've heard about something called Poise but can't find anything on it.

Thank you again and I look forward to helping and consulting with you,

Darragh Ryan
