I have the Edirol UA-25, which is a basic interface. I've used it both ways, and it seems to be all right either way; I've been using asio for quite some time now.

Hi Mike, it all depends on your card, the manufacturer, and how good they've
implemented either drivers. For my saffire for example, I've heard
performance is better when using asio, which is what I've always used, with
the saffire, my previous delta, and my first tascam us122. If you own an
fw-1884 however, it is recommended that you use the wdm drivers, as they
provide better stability. This is the case for various cards, some like 1
better, some like the other.
So what interface do you have?
