Hi, Satauna,

A detailed comparison would be useful. But, until we can find time to make
one, I will just say that one of the biggest advantages to Lime Aloud with
the Lime notation editor that comes with our GOODFEEL Braille Music
Translator software is that you get real-time braille music display. Our
Lime Aloud scripts also give you some useful feedback when using edit fields
and dialogs in Lime. Sibelius Speaking has no braille support.

Aside from accessibility issues, Lime and Sibelius are comparable products
in that they are both music engraving programs. They both have step
recording and sequencing features. I think it'd be fair to say that
Sibelius is much easier for a sighted person to use right out of the box.
Lime is marketed as shareware and its developer has no interest to compete
on a commercial level with products like Sibelius and Finale. On the other
hand, Lime prints out some very good-looking notation particularly if your
printer supports postscript.

So, a lot of whether you choose to use Sibelius with Sibelius Speaking or
Lime with Lime Aloud is based on how you work and where you want to end up.
Lime Aloud generally makes sense for younger students and anyone who wants
to learn to read braille music and also has a need to prepare printed
scores. Sibelius Speaking is generally a good choice for musicians who are
advanced students or professionals especially if their school uses Sibelius
as a standard notation program.

A number of our customers actually do use both Sibelius and GOODFEEL. One
nice thing about our latest version of GOODFEEL is that it can automatically
translate notation imported into Lime in the form of MusicXML. Sibelius can
export MusicXML provided you install the Dolet plug-in from
www.recordare.com .

Hope that helped. There is a lot of overlap between the product features
and each customer will need to consider their own needs when choosing
between them or deciding that he or she must have both. The good news is:
there is actually a choice!

Regards,
Bill

Gordon, can you give us some clarity as to why you keep pushing Lime Aloud?
Is it easier to use than Sibellius? Does it have all the same features, etc?
Yes, I know it's easy enough to look at the website, but I'd appreciate a
side-by-side comparison of the two products.

Thanks,
Satauna
