[ddots-l] Re: Pitch Shifting in Sonar?

Nope, I mean letting the tempo go up and down with the pitch. This means that the sound is resampled as is. If the pitch is raised 12 semitones or an octave, the sound will play back twice as fast and in half the time. For decades, this was the only way to speed up or slow down a sound. In some programs, there is a check box or radio button to maintain the tempo or not. If you choose to maintain the tempo, the pluggin has to do a lot of extra work to match everything up with good sound quality. If you are simply resampling like speeding up a record or tape, the pluggin hardly has to do anything. I hope this helps a bit to explain my question.

Bob.

Are you sure you don't mean changing the tempo?

Hi Gordon. Seeing as time/pitch is quite accessible anyway, do you know an easy way to use it to pitch things up and down without maintaining the tempo

like a record or tape?
Bob.

Yes, it is time/pitch under the cakewalk menu in the audio effects dialog
in the process menu.

Hi folks.

Do we have a pitch shifter in Sonar, something to shift pitch by a
specified number of cents or semitones, and preserve the duration,
similar to the pitch shifter in Sound Forge?

thanks
Chris
