Hi Darren! Better to get the right voltage in a new transformer. If you use a double convertion it will take extra power and you mentioned it will be on a lot of the time. If you stick to the mah on the original power supply you can not destroy anything. Just remember to check the polarity. My best advise to you! good luck!
