Hi Mark,

Yamaha are also one of my favourites. The P90 has a much better sound but unfortunately are a lot heavier than the Korg Sp200.

I work all over the UK and needed a Piano that was durable but not too heavy as my driver has problems with His knee.

The sound only had to be good as It's not classic music being performed, just good old raw Rock 'N' roll!

I remember I performed at one Hotel that told me they had a Piano, I tried it and told the manager that some of the notes were sticking, His reply was, "You Musician types are never satisfied! I only painted it Yesterday!"

Your Piano playing is beautiful, thanks for sending the link.

Hello steve, The reason I mentioned the sp200
was about 4 years ago, my boss, where I work perchased one for the piano-bar.
It replaced the old Yamaha standard
acoustic piano that had been there for years.
It was perchased because of its size.
Whith the key cover closed on the old piano the sp200 sat on there perfectly.
I play there 4 nights a week and I didn't like it much.
However, I did like the idea of switching from the old acoustic to the
digital.
I got tired of tuning it once a month and it was starting to show its age.
I started looking around for something better.
The key was to find the size that would fit on the old piano.
I was in luck and found the Yamaha p90.
Great actiontouch, wonderful piano voices and easy to use.
Same size as the sp200.
I got a added feature I didn't expect.
All the midi and outputs jacks are on the left side of the unit, not on the
back.
Real nice when sitting on the old piano.
I like it so much, I own 3 of them.
One for work, one in my studio and one in the case for side jobs that i do.
I also like the fact that I can split the keyboard for 2 voices.
For example, piano in the right and bass guitar in the left.
Yamaha has replaced the p90 with the CP33.
I have read it is about the same electroniclly as the p90 but it has 4 more
voices and has its own speakers.
Of course, it is bigger.
Here is a link of the Yamaha p90 played by me.

Hi Mark,

There are better Digital Pianos than the Kork sP250 but they cost much more.

The Hammer action of the Korg Sp200 is very fast and nicely waited
considering it's not an actual waited Action.
It is Fantastic for live work as it is not too heavy and is incredibly
durable.
It doesn't have the greatest of Piano sounds but that isn't what Andy was
asking for!

The difference between the Kork sP200 and the Kork sP250 is:
the Kork SP200 has a metal casing and doesn't have speakers.
The Korg SP250 has a plastic casing and has Speakers.
Both are 88 note but the SP250 is slightly shorter in length.

I hope so, I had the Korg sp200 and it was awful.
Kept it one week.

Hi,

The Kork Sp250 is very narrow considering it has 88 full size Notes.
It has one long speaker across the whole of the length so has you strike a note you hear it in almost the place your Finger is located, (just like a
hammer hitting the strings).
The hammer action is quite good, and it has 30 Voices, Pianos, Organs,
Strings and they too are quite good.

very reasonably priced.

Friends,
I am looking into buying a small (desk-space sensitive), simple,
76-key
MIDI controller for my computer. I don't need any (and I mean "any!")
bells and whistles (except maybe external speakers), but just good
functionality and a good price is sufficient for my needs. All I really
need is MIDI signal transmission. Portability is a huge PLUS!
   Any suggestions?
   Yours truly,
   Andy
