Hi guys

I hope this helps.

here's some good tips for getting your pc at its best.

Formatting your hard drive under Windows XP:
When rebuilding your master hard drive make sure you run it in NTFS full
format mode. this will clean the disk and create an NTFS partition which is
highly recommended.

Windows XP installation hints:
First thing's first. Only install what you NEED! when Windows has installed
on your hard drive and you have configured it, install jaws first. this is
your vital repair interface. this is recommended and essential. now when it
comes to the windows software and junk, Go to your add remove software panel
in
the control panels folder, go to windows components and remove some of the
following things which become memory resident or just take up boot time.
Games,
MSN explorer, Outlook express, Windows messenger, etc. if you are using a
network or are using direct dialup connections make sure you keep your network
and IP tools there.

Go to the windows directory and delete any windows GRAPHICS files (BMP) as
they are some of the worst things to float around. Windows contains so much
junk on initial installations. after doing this.

Critical modifications for windows to run for pro Audio work:
Graphics handling under caketalking for sonar...
Graphics setup is as follows... 16 bit graphics in 16 bit colour mode at
1024X768
acceleration for best performance)see step below)
Go to the system control panel and run it. do the following methods when
enhancing windows for speed and reliability
Ctrl TAB to advanced then tab once for settings
once on this dialogue change to best performance. this eliminates all
graphical call outs.
after doing this keep in the system control panel and ctrl tab to system
restore and turn it OFF yes you heard me right. this is vital when running
audio. this is because if you're using one disk or more windows analyses
tracked
changes in the operations and creats partitions to undo damage. this slows
down the drive and the data access read cache.
ctrl tab again to disable internet updates. this again takes up memory
Now this final step is optional but recommended. turn off remote access and
prevent users if on networks from accessing your drive.
