Bill:
Well, in my oppinion, it is more trouble than it is worth. As with many features in Sonar, there are many ways to skin the same cat. Layering is mainly used to save multiple takes of a performance on the same track. By selecting a portion of a given layer, it is possible to use that portion of one performance, then select from another layer and use that passage. By muting and unmuting specific layers, it is possible to create a compositte take excerpted from multiple peformances. As Phil said, it's really easier to save multiple performances on cloned tracks, then copy and paste to a compositte track. Yes, some prospective customers might cry for that feature just because their friends are doing it that way, but we've been using the event list instead of the piano roll for years, it's that sort of comparison.

Subject: [ddots-l] Track Layering

Is anyone using this feature with SONAR 7? Please tell me what works, if
anything, and what doesn't. I myself have never tried to use it.

Regards,
Bill
