Hi Roger,
So my first thought is that you probably have a send somewhere on that
track in addition to your main pan that is panned to the center.
Perhaps a reverb or secondary output any of which if stereo has a pan control.
arrow to the right on that track past your trim control all the way to
the phase toggle to find it.
If the pann persists, make sure you remove everything one at a time
from the track effects field.
If that's not it, my next thought is cut and paste the track to a new
track with that new track panned to the center, mute the first track
and see what you get.
