thanks a lot for this answer! I asked myself the same many many times. I
will put a test on this to see how it works.
Sonar 6 and 7 have even greater tools for that but I dont know if they are
accessible.

  Import the file, select the track, then use edit>groov  clip looping.
This should acidize it to the project as close as it can; if not you'll have
to use sound forge to acidize the file.  Note, if it's an entire song you
are doing, make sure you remove as much empty space at the end and the
beginning as you can, so that it won't interfear with the acidizing...
