Chris. Valhalla has a custom presets list that is unique to their products and
we would need to create HSC access to that as it's totally separate to Sonar's
presets list.

Ok, so if we can access the parameters through
our typical alternate methods in our DAW, why not
just spot the preset load/save/compare buttons?
That is, if the auditioning of presets is the
only thing we can't really access through other

center. If OCR could reliably read specific
fields, then this sort of environment wouldn't be a barrier.

The result was that in this plug, it worked
fantastically well and made a totally
inaccessible environment, accessible to the
point you could read values and interact with
the GUI. Trouble was, this didn't extend across
other plugs I tried. It was hit and miss with
the OCR and what it could accuratly report, as I
guess the difference in how a GUI was designed
had too much of an impact. With certain fonts,
it would work great, with others, it was very poor.

So, the conclusion was not to include it in HSC
at this moment, not until OCR improved.
Although, I think the code is still there, it's
just commented out for the moment. This set
I've done accesses all the controls and has the
functionality to read any OCR results, but it no
longer has the associated code, plus it only was
done with the "80's" mode. Amending it for the
"70's" and "now" modes is an easy job, but it
was never done for the reasons above. If you
want it, you can have it, but it is incomplete. Best Steve.

I'd love sets for all their verbs. They're truly
excelent and $50 each. compare that to the prices
of verbs by Exponential Audio (Phoenix Verb for
example). Pick up Vintage Verb, Room, and the
recently-released Plate from Valhalla, and you may never need another reverb.

Sorry, I guess I really like their stuff. (grin)

Actually, is there much extra that we need access
to that isn't exposed in the inspector in Sonar, Reaper's parameter list etc.?

No it's very easy to do. Create all of the HSC
buttons. When creating them, don't choose right
click as an action. Choose "possition cursor"
instead. Once you have done that and added
tutor messages to them then you create a spot
ring and add the sets to it in the order you want them to appear.

Steve has a point. Giving each field a
keystroke is probably not the best wait to do
this. Probably better to set-up a fake tab
order and put a tutor message on each button in
the tab order. You would then have the button
name followed by the tutor message so it would sound like this.

Greg, making a set for the NI service center
would be possible, if OCR was reliable
enough. HSC does contain code to use OCR for
specific areas, as myself and Jim worked on it
a while ago. It worked flawlessly within the
Valhalla Vintage Verb UI, but it was flakey in other plugs.

OCR struggles with certain font etc, but if the
conditions are OK, it works great. I
havenÂ’t tried OCR in the service center,
but itÂ’s just a matter of creating a grid
kind of layout with OCR reading the fields.

Trouble is...and I agree with Jim here, is that
it isnÂ’t something he wants to use with HSC
until OCR is more consistent and reliable.

So, until such a time, the layout is possible,
but reading the fields isnÂ’t...and
thereÂ’s no way to know what item is in what field etc. best Steve.
