I use to prefer compression after recording but them i tried it and got use to it, the end result is simply a better signal to noise ratio. I still record without it when its not necesery but i mostly record with compression on bass guitars, kick drums and vocals aspecially novice vocalists, expierienced vocalists usually have good mic technique so its not necesery -original message- Subject: [ddots-l] Re: mackie onyx 1220i question From: Chris Smart <chris_s@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 08/12/2010 17:15 At 07:49 AM 12/8/2010, you wrote: >How much compression would you do for something like this? But maybe try a threshold of -12dB, ratio of 3:1 or 4:1, medium attack and release times. I don't know; it depends on a. the material being compressed and b. your ears and what you're trying to achieve. PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
