it is true that this fast track ultra is a very good quality, low noise unit, and am sorry to make it sound like i was putting blame on you or the company as i believe you put out a very good product. it was more in frustration than anything else and didn't realize how many systems were out there with equally poor software for accessability. There is always going to be a compromise for most part, but definitely hope to find an interface that is a little easier to get into without sacrificing too much in the quality of inputs. Suggestions for systems that may be more expensive but would still let me access most of their functions would be huge help. May not be any one perfect set up. I must say though, have hada little trouble with its drivers too and seen several comments on user groups so even m-audio has its driver problems on occasion. Someone on here mentioned Focusrite. Do you know anything about any of their units. Perhaps you might have some idea of my current adk from dancing dots has firewire or not; woud think so but not certain. Thanks. Am very open to ideas and suggestions to try. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bryan Smart" <bryansmart@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

The FastTrack, excluding the basic FastTrack USB, includes control panel software that is mostly inaccessible. However, I suggest it to people that are on a budget, and are using computers without Firewire, or that include Firewire controllers of undetermined compatibility. Besides being very affordable, the FastTrack has good audio quality for the price, front panel control over direct monitoring, very stable drivers (including good 64-bit support), and is compatible with both Mac and Pro Tools (should people wish to try that environment, also). It has a lot of flexibility, and works with just about any computer. The control panel accessibility is a disappointment, but it is the best compromise that I've been able to work out without insisting that people get and configure additional software to gain access to their interface.

Phil replied: you will have to check that with Dancing Dots. you're PC may or, may not have a firewire port/card installed.

Phil replied: only encountered a fast track briefly so, can't really comment on it.
