Hey Djx, yes, I tried that, but no luck. The good news is that I spoke
to the people at Harman and they're going to honor my warrantee even
though it expired a month ago. They were really nice when I called the
tec people. I spoke to a man named Tony, and he set me up. Breathing a
sigh of relief here.

One thing that I forgot to mention is this:
while the usb cable is plugged in, and Pc is on, try unplugging the power
chord for a few seconds, and then plug it in again.
I know that your probably so tired of trouble shooting at this point, but
I’m wondering if that might not solve the problem in the short term while
you work things out with Soundcraft.
I had a music quest midi interface that played the same trick.
i’m not suggesting that you keep on using the board in that manner, but I’m
sure that tech support might ask you to do what I’m suggesting.

like DJx and I are telling you, If you want to be absolutely sure that
its not the board, then the only other trouble shooting step I can
think about is to simply plug the board in to another computer system.
However at this point I like DJX am leaning more towards the USB port
chipset.
As for the power supply cable that is indeed the only thing that you
need to do is to simply plug in this cable, and no need to worry about
any switches.
I’m not sure why Soundcraft elected to eliminate the switch, probably
to save a few sense lol.
My presonus ar 16 channel actually has a power switch, and so far I
really like this board too.
I have both in my rig, and am testing the both for Dancingdots for our
customers, and thus far both boards work telly well.
The build and quality of these two boards are just fantastic, however
that doesn’t mean to say that they don’t malfunction unfortunately.

Yes, I can connect a mic and my guitar and play while the usb is
unconnected and everything sounds just fine. The very moment I
connect the usb cable it starts trying to turn it's self on over and
over again. It makes the notification tone that usually signifies a
successful connection, but I can't do anything because it just keeps

everything seems to work fine there, so it's got to be in this board
somewhere right?

Check the difference (if any) when the board is on and not plugged
in, and then plug it in (leave it on), and have them watch the
board. Any lights come on/off? Anything starts blinking?
Also, if you unplug USB and run the board, you said it runs fine.
What happens if you run sound through some of the channels, and then
plug in the USB. What happens to the sound?
The items I mentioned (USB chipset, USB EC etc) are on both the pC
and the Soundcraft. But I was mainly referring to the Soundcraft, as
if these were a problem on the PC side, you would have noticed it
already when using other USB equipment.

have been using the soundcraft as the entire sound for my computer
as well as for recording. The system was on and running fine. I had
been doing some recording and decided to take a lunch break. While
eating lunch, I kept hearing a strange sound coming from my studio.
When I ran in there, the board was constantly trying to turn it's
self on and the behavior has continued ever since. No one was
anywhere near the system when it started to malfunction. These items
that you mentioned in your last note, are they in my computer or in
the soundcraft board? Please forgive me, as I'm a bit of a dummy
when it comes to this technology.
I'm just trying to determine if the problem is in my board or the
computer.
I've got a friend coming over today to connect it to a diferent
computer, and we'll see what happens there.

Djx, when I connect the usb cable from the board to my computer, it
continually tries to turn it's self on. I keep hearing the double
tone that signifies a successful installation, but it just keeps
doing that over and over again. Without any usb connection, I can
plug a mic or guitar or my keyboard in to any channel on the
soundcraft, and it works perfectly fine. I can use the eq and all
the effects and everything. I just can't seem to connect the usb so
that I can use the board in sonar. I have tried several cables,
power cords and diferent usb ports on the computer. All with no
change in behavior. Mike and I have considered several diferent
senarios, and are leaning now toward a problem with the power
supply inside the soundcraft. I really love this board, and hope I
can get it fixed, as I really can't afford a new one. I am wondering
where to find the cerial number on this board?
I'm going to call soundcraft tec support today and see what I can
determine.
