As discussed in the CakeTalking tutorial, you may want to have a version for performance and a version for notation. See relevant sections on notation. Playing for performance and playing for notation are two different animals. A project played for performance will most likely be unreadable when displayed as notation because notes are never played to their full values and there are going to be timing issues that will generate very strange notation.
