If you want the backing vocals to surround the lead vocal you need to record
each part twice on separate mono tracks and pan the doubled tracks left and
right.  You can also use a stereo chorus on a mono track and pan the output
left and right for a surround effect. A combination of both works great for
a stacked group vocal sound.

well, in this case I am using the pan slider in sonar and just listen to 
where I wanna have the backing vocals if I want them right or left.
